On June 28, 2019, awinic Wuxi R&D Center was officially established. The leaders of Wuxi High-tech Zone (Xinwu District) and leaders of awinic attended the opening ceremony. Director Wang Shudong from Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Center of Wuxi High-tech Zone and Du Liming, General Manager of awinic Wuxi R&D Center jointly unveiled the awinic Wuxi R&D Center.
Qiao Yongqing, Vice President of awinic, gave a speech at the opening ceremony. He said that Wuxi has outstanding people and is suitable for living. The High-tech Zone has leading industrial planning, professional talents, national-level historical and cultural ecological resources and complete supporting resources. awinic is optimistic about this “land of treasure” and is also optimistic about awinic’s development in Wuxi.
Qiao Yongqing pointed out that after 11 years of hard working, in recent years, awinic has kept a steady growth in annual sales and shipments. The gratifying result is the best proof of awinicer’s adhering to its company concept of “putting customers’ needs first”. At the same time, awinic attaches great importance to its high-quality team.
“In the future, awinic will continue to invest more than 10% of its annual revenue to R&D to boost its strong growth momentum. I hope that all awinicers in Wuxi can continue to work hard here.”
Over the years, the scale of IC industry in Wuxi has been in the leading place throughout the country, and its performance in the past two years is even better. In 2017, the annual output value of integrated circuits in Wuxi reached 89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10%, and the total investment in integrated circuit related industries reached 22.8 billion US dollars. However, some experts pointed out that the distribution of IC industry in Wuxi is not balanced, since most of the IC enterprises here are packaging and testing and manufacturing enterprises, and the upstream design enterprises are far from enough.
In order to make up for this shortcoming, in 2018, a number of leading IC design companies including awinic signed a contract with the local government of Wuxi to jointly promote the development of Wuxi IC design industry. According to statistics, in 2018, the sales revenue of IC industry in Wuxi has exceeded 100 billion yuan, an increase of 17.15%. This indicates that Wuxi has become the second city with a scale of over 100 billion yuan after Shanghai.
It is reported that Wuxi High-tech Zone is expected to become a new engine for the growth of Wuxi's IC design industry in the future. In terms of talents and residential facilities, Wuxi High-tech Zone has great advantages. The “Leading Talents Program” of Wuxi High-tech Zone, the “Taihu Talents Program” of Wuxi, and the landing of the National Demonstration Microelectronics Institute of Southeast University Wuxi Campus provide strong support for the development of integrated circuit talents in the High-tech Zone.
